our focus
We are an independent Swiss Private Bank, with headquarters in Zurich and offices in Geneva. Our international team of experts is dedicated to all aspects of Asset Management and Advisory.
We focus. We manage Private Wealth. And we look beyond.
our name
Bergos stands for our founding-fathers, Hans and Paul Berenberg in 1590 and Johann Hinrich Gossler in 1769. It honors the many generations who, for more than four centuries, fostered entrepreneurial thinking, good education, and personal integrity. It expresses the ideals of independence, continuity, and openness to the world. We understand, respect and value this responsibility.
our approach
Holistic – our approach considers you as an individual and within the system of your life, assessing the integral composing parts and their connections.
That is why we believe that a segmentation according to the amount of assets entrusted to us is not the right approach. We are convinced that challenges, risks and opportunities for the management of your wealth arise from your particular circumstances and everything that surrounds you, your family and your business.
our structure
Our owners are experienced entrepreneurs whose professional endeavors are among the most successful businesses in Switzerland, Germany, and the world. They know what excellence looks like. And they know what an excellent bank needs to offer its clients.

Our history
Until 2018, we were the Swiss subsidiary of Joh. Berenberg, Gossler & Co. KG which was founded by the Flemish-origined Berenberg family in 1590 and is the world’s oldest merchant bank. Its owners, the Berenberg/Gossler family, belonged to the ruling elite of Hanseatic merchants of the city-republic of Hamburg. Like many other merchant bankers, the Berenbergs were originally cloth merchants.
In 2018, the year of our 30th anniversary in the financial center Switzerland, a group of entrepreneurial shareholders, together with the current management acquired 80.1% of the Bank which founded Bergos Berenberg AG. As agreed upon, the former mother-bank sold the remaining shares in 2020, therewith establishing Bergos AG as a fully independent Swiss Private Bank.
